WALTER

The playground narrates the case of Walter, a child of migrant background who had an accident while playing in the park near his house. After being taken to the hospital by his parents, Walter was separated from them as an accusation of mistreatment was imposed by the medical staff and the Spanish Social Services who used racist notions to legitimate the confinement of Walter in a Foster Care Center and his subsequent adoption by a white family.

“Walter” explains how institutional racism in the Spanish context have created a legal system that facilitates the removal of migrant minors from their families while using classist, racist and patriarchal conceptions.
