A DROP OF MILK

Experimental documentary recorded between Switzerland and Venezuela that examines milk as a territory of dispute between imperialism and popular forms of organization for food sovereignty. The piece contrasts the role of the Swiss multinational Nestlé, responsible both for deaths linked to infant formula in Africa and for the hoarding of milk in Venezuela during the most critical moments of the blockade, with the organized work of Venezuelan communes, which produce and distribute food to confront the imposed scarcity while simultaneously building their own model of socialism from the ground up.

Through interviews with women and men commune members, the visual essay reveals how the Bolivarian Revolution builds food sovereignty under siege. As sanctions consolidate into a global architecture of hunger, the communes rise up as a living form of resistance.
