NATION STATE. PART I
The Nation State. Part I project poses a critical look at the construction of sovereignty through a Nation State through the use of discourses, laws and norms that involve the population not recognized as citizens through the various immigration laws and regulations that affect the rights and freedoms of the migrant population.
At the same time, the project proposes an analysis of several historical icons linked to colonial processes currently recognized in the Catalan public space. Through a series of photographs, the recognition that the city of Barcelona currently makes of historical figures as well as their direct involvement in colonial processes is analyzed.
Through a video projection, a Catalan language class taught to migrants from the Global South is shown.
The pronunciation learning process is carried out through the repetition of openly racist speeches by Catalan politicians in relation to the migrant population.
The installation includes the projection of the video CC-13, images recorded during the Via Catalana on September 11, 2013.
The project was carried out entirely in Catalan.
